Metrici car kit for mobile LPR law enforcement
Accurate on the move
Metrici developed another hardware product that works with its line of software modules for helping law enforcement units everywhere, providing a solution for mobile or stationary LPR with a unit specially designed as a car kit, including everything one needs for detection and communication on the move.
Mobile license plate recognition is a must on modern law enforcement units be it official or private . With the Metrici mobile LPR car kit, one can do continuous search for plate numbers around the vehicle: front, back, sides, or wherever a camera is placed, in out of the car, day and night, snow, sunny or rainy day.
Thus cameras can be mounted depending on customer’s wish: inside, on the roof, on the hood or on the back of the car, or on all of the above. As it is a mobile unit, the system can be used in any other application that requires or needs movind the detection area. For example can be used to detect and count people in certain areas or detect objects in different part of a production unit on a different time.
As for cars, the recognition can be made even on the side vehicles, cars in traffic or parked cars (be it angle parking, parallel park or perpendicular parking) for a non-stop plate recognition and flow monitoring. Also, the system gives alarms when blacklist vehicles are detected. You have centralized management and database with all events, statistics and reports The kit is very useful for maintaining a safe and secure environment, find stolen vehicles or persons of interest in investigations. This is plug and play: you connect to the vehicle power suply and it starts working. As an option, a battery pack can alos be attached for the kit to work independently of vehicle electrical circuit.
The specially designed interfave and touchscreen monitor gives access to instant LPR readings, in just 200 milliseconds from live video stream for a quick reaction.
As well as parking management, one can do some more with mobile LPR: combating crime and fraud with an effective method or just help the community with intention to detect, deter and disrupt criminality at a local, force, regional and national level, including tackling traveling criminals.
So, as a vehicle passes, its registration number is read and instantly checked against database records of vehicles of interest and the event is recorded for eventual future references.
The database, with all vehicles, even if they are not known to be of interest at the time of the read that may be accessed in appropriate circumstances for investigative purposes.
There are many reasons Metrici developed a mobile LPR kit, but first of all because our partners needed it.
This includes of course cameras, usually up to two on a car or any number a client wants on a car but also the car kit with the hardware for detection and other useful add-ons. The passengers of the car can see the Metrici Interface inside the vehicle on a tablet or a lapton, with alerts and access to settings or reports. Also, the system can send data and communicate with external central office grace to dual band 4G cappabilities, for backup in case of transmission fail.

About the system:
Artificial intelligence (AI) and Metrici machine deep learning technologies permanently improves the accuracy of license plate reads in difficult environments, such as bad weather, heavy traffic, and fast speeds.
By using Metrici, the checking is fast and more effective. In fact AI power is more important than the human eye. Although a human can also see a number plate, it will never be able to instantly compare it to a database with thousands of numbers.
This is where Metrici comes in play with dedicated cameras and smart software. A police vehicle equipped with such a system can automatically search for specific cars while driving in normal traffic.
It can also be used to check the validity of an electronic parking ticket or the authorization to enter certain urban areas.
The system constantly scans license plates and links them with complementary information such as GPS location, date, and time. Besides real-time identification of cars listed in comparison databases, the system creates a rich database of information for later use for analysis and investigation in criminal cases.
When dealing with serious crimes, often in the initial stages of the investigations, a searchable archive of license plates read by motorized patrols at certain times and locations can be extremely useful.
Statistics show that up to 70% of serious crimes are somehow related to motor vehicles, be it car thefts or cars used in committing crimes.
Besides, statistics and insurance rates clearly show that most road accidents are caused by careless and irresponsible drivers. Especially in Europe, the young people usually pay higher insurance premiums because they are a risky group.
This category also includes drivers of vehicles without valid compulsory insurance or technical inspection certificates A study from Sweden shows that the probability of an accident caused by drivers with no compulsory insurance is up to 34% higher. In fact, uninsured drivers jeopardize road safety and cause major problems.LPR can quickly identify vehicles without valid insurance or a technical inspection certificate by cross-checking with an external database of state institutions .
